Sugarless Candy Can Kill Your Dog!
ByWeird right? Well you can’t feed your dog chocolate because speeding up your dogs heart rate can kill it, but now even sugarless candy is deadly.
Its not all candy that will kill your dog, but any candy containing xylitol has been proven to be deadly and can also give your dog liver damage. Xylitol is used as a sugar substitute in many “sugar less” candies. While it is safe for diabetics and anyone with hyperglycemia, any type of artificial sugar alcohol is bad for your dog.
So if you know your dog gets near you candy stash often, try to make sure you don’t have any xylitol by reading the label. Some brands of gum also contain xylitol such as Orbit, Stride, and Trident.
Heres the important thing to remember, if you notice your dog had a piece of your sugarfree gum or candy, the best thing to do first is to the NAPCC and they can be reached at 1-888-426-4435
I wish you the best in raising a healthy dog, and try to keep all candy on high shelves and always from all pets.
